Selection Process

The selection process for the RRB ALP (Assistant Loco Pilot) Recruitment 2025 involves several stages to ensure that only qualified and eligible candidates are chosen for the position.

1. Computer-Based Test (CBT) 1

  • Objective: The first stage is a screening test to shortlist candidates for the second stage. It is a qualifying exam where candidates’ basic knowledge and skills are tested.

    • Duration: 60 minutes

    • Total Marks: 75

    • Number of Questions: 75

      • Mathematics

      • General Intelligence and Reasoning

      • -1/3 mark for each incorrect answer.

  • Minimum Qualifying Marks: Candidates need to score a minimum percentage to move on to the next stage:

    • UR (Unreserved) and EWS candidates: 40%

    • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates: 30%

    • SC/ST candidates: 25%

  • Important Notes: The CBT 1 exam is a screening test, and the marks obtained in this stage are not counted for the final merit list.

2. Computer-Based Test (CBT) 2

  • Objective: The second stage evaluates candidates’ in-depth knowledge of the subjects. Only those candidates who pass CBT 1 are eligible for CBT 2.

3. Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)

  • Objective: This test is designed to evaluate the candidates’ aptitude for the Assistant Loco Pilot role, such as their ability to handle trains and related operations.

  • Who Needs to Appear: Only those candidates who qualify for the CBT 2 will be eligible to appear for the CBAT.

  • Test Features:

    • No Negative Marking: There is no penalty for wrong answers in CBAT.

    • Tests Include:

      • Signal and Track Handling: Assessing the candidate’s ability to react to signals.

      • Train Handling: Measures how well candidates can handle trains in various operational scenarios.

      • Psychological Aptitude: Assesses mental alertness and decision-making ability.

  • Important Notes: The CBAT marks are important for selection, and candidates who do not meet the necessary standard in CBAT may be disqualified, even if they cleared the previous stages.

4. Document Verification

  • Objective: After successfully clearing the CBT 2 and CBAT stages, the candidates will undergo document verification to confirm their eligibility for the post.

    • Age Proof (Birth certificate, school certificate, etc.)

    • Educational Qualification (Degree, ITI, etc.)

    • Community Certificate (if applicable)

    • Disability Certificate (if applicable)

  • Important Notes: Candidates should ensure that all documents are authentic and accurate as false documentation can lead to disqualification.

5. Medical Examination

  • Objective: The final step in the selection process is the medical examination. This is crucial for ensuring that the selected candidates are physically fit for the demanding job of an Assistant Loco Pilot.

  • Medical Standard: Candidates must meet the A-1 medical standard.

    • The medical examination tests candidates’ vision, physical fitness, and overall health.

    • Vision Standards:

      • Distant Vision: 6/6 in both eyes (without glasses).

      • Near Vision: 0.6 in both eyes (without glasses).

      • Color Vision: Candidates must pass a test for color vision, binocular vision, night vision, etc.

  • Important Notes: Candidates who do not meet the required physical and medical standards will be disqualified.

Final Selection:

  • After the document verification and medical examination, a final merit list is prepared. The merit list is based on the candidates’ performance in the CBT 2 and CBAT stages.

  • The final selection is dependent on the medical fitness and meeting all eligibility criteria.
